Jankcraft plans an October release for its WotLK server that runs in the browser

Jankcraft is a Wrath of the Lich King private server that you play in a web browser. Its developer showed a demo on 19 September 2026 and said the plan is to open it to the public in October.

Because the client runs in the browser, it works across platforms, with custom keybinds on desktop and full touch controls on phones. The demo was recorded on an iPhone and switched between portrait and landscape. The developer says the project is based on an old one called wowser and "has been ai enhanced the entire way".

What the developer has planned

The developer wants the game to have "a better feel than classic" and be less of a grind:

  • Every class rebalanced, "based on a bunch of dps and hps r&d"
  • Atlas guides, every profession unlocked, boosted XP and item rates, quick teleports, and bonus titles and achievements
  • A new shaman ability, shown in the demo as a sneak peek: totems that move with the shaman and get faster as you level

In the first post about Jankcraft, on 11 September, the developer wrote about experimenting with skill-shot action combat. It only covers the starting area, and after that the game switches back to normal combat. The developer also asked players which Wrath changes and old addons they would like to see.

Update, 4 October 2026: playable in alpha

The realm can already be played on the Jankcraft website, with sign-up in the browser. Its welcome window says "This is an alpha. Things will break." and asks players to report problems with the in-game Report button. The game says it runs on AzerothCore with mod-playerbots.

According to the game's interface:

  • You can bring one of your other characters into your party as a companion. It keeps the XP, gold and gear it earns, and works in the open world, dungeons and 2v2 arenas
  • Private World Bosses: each character can claim a boss's loot once per UTC day, and practice fights without loot can be repeated
  • Dungeon travel works at any level, but group size, lockouts and attunements still apply
  • The action combat is an experimental skill in Northshire, and normal spells stay on the spell bar
  • Ten characters per account. A Death Knight needs a level 55 character on the realm
  • An AI agent page can answer questions, write a plan or play your character, with your own model or one the server provides

Around 19:00 UTC on 4 October, 13 players were online. The game links no Discord, so feedback goes through the Report button.
