Best Cataclysm WoW Private Servers 2026
Score out of 100. Player reviews count for 50%, estimated population for 35% and years online for 15%. No server can pay for a better position. How this ranking works
Cataclysm is a niche in the private-server world: the 4.3.4 client is harder to emulate well, so only a handful of projects run it. The upside is that the servers that do exist put real work into it, and some layer modern systems such as Mythic+ dungeons and solo-queue arena onto the original expansion.
This page ranks the active Cataclysm servers in our catalogue by player reviews, population and track record. With so few realms, the news section is worth following: patch releases like 4.2 Firelands and 4.3 Dragon Soul are the moments when these servers are busiest.

How this ranking works
Every active server gets a score out of 100 from three parts. Player reviews count for 50%. They are the star ratings of registered players, weighted so that a server with only a few reviews stays close to the average of all Cataclysm servers until more players have rated it. Population counts for 35%, on a logarithmic scale so a 10,000-player network doesn't bury every smaller realm. Track record counts for 15% and measures how long the server has been running, up to five years.
Population figures are estimates from the servers and their communities, and a server without one gets no points for population. Servers that haven't launched and closed servers are listed separately. Nothing on this page is paid placement.
What to look for
Check the patch phase
Progressive Cataclysm servers start at 4.0 content and unlock Firelands and Dragon Soul later. If you want the full expansion immediately, look for a fully progressed realm.
Custom systems
Mythic+ and rated solo queue are popular additions on Cataclysm servers. They change how endgame feels, so read the feature list before choosing.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a good Cataclysm private server?
Yes. Right now our Cataclysm ranking is led by Whitemane - Maelstrom, Whitemane - Gilneas and Proudmoore. Proudmoore is a custom 4.3.4 realm that launched in September 2025 with Mythic+ built into the expansion and progressive patch releases, and multi-expansion networks also host Cataclysm realms.
Why are there so few Cataclysm servers?
The 4.3.4 client and its scripting are considerably more complex than 3.3.5a, and the player demand is smaller. The few projects that commit to it tend to be well maintained as a result.
Hosting, domain and e-mail cost about $120 a month, paid by one person. No ads, no paid placements.
