Best WoW Private Servers 2026

Score out of 100. Player reviews count for 50%, estimated population for 35% and years online for 15%. No server can pay for a better position. How this ranking works

There are more World of Warcraft private servers than ever, and 2026 has reshaped the scene. Turtle WoW, Stormforge and Ascension closed after Blizzard's legal action, while fresh Vanilla realms, progressive Wrath timelines and new Classic+ projects launched to take their place. This page ranks every active server in our catalogue by player reviews, estimated population and track record, and lists upcoming and closed servers separately.

Each entry links to a full profile with expansion, client version, population, rates, realm type, features, website and Discord, plus the reviews behind the score. Use the category links to jump to the best servers for a specific expansion.

                Coming soon

Announced or still in testing. They join the ranking once they launch.

                Closed servers

These servers have shut down. Their pages stay up with their history and the news about what happened, and the closed servers page has what we know about when and why each one closed.

                How this ranking works

Every active server gets a score out of 100 from three parts. Player reviews count for 50%. They are the star ratings of registered players, weighted so that a server with only a few reviews stays close to the average of all servers until more players have rated it. Population counts for 35%, on a logarithmic scale so a 10,000-player network doesn't bury every smaller realm. Track record counts for 15% and measures how long the server has been running, up to five years.

Population figures are estimates from the servers and their communities, and a server without one gets no points for population. Servers that haven't launched and closed servers are listed separately. Nothing on this page is paid placement.

                What to look for

                Pick the expansion first

Vanilla, Burning Crusade, Wrath, Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria and Legion play very differently. Decide which era you want, then compare servers within it: the category pages below do exactly that.

                Blizzlike vs custom

Blizzlike servers recreate the original game; Vanilla+ and WotLK+ servers change it on purpose. Both can be excellent, but only one of them is the game you remember.

                Fresh is fun

The best time to join any server is shortly after launch or a new phase. Follow the news section for launches, fresh realms and raid releases.

                Check the shop

Most servers accept donations. The No P2W tag means the shop is cosmetic only; P2W Gear/Gold means real money buys character power.

                Frequently asked questions

What is the best WoW private server in 2026?

It depends on the expansion you want. Across all expansions, Tauri WoW - Evermoon, ChromieCraft and UltimoWoW lead our ranking right now, which combines player reviews, population and track record. The category pages show the top Vanilla, Wrath of the Lich King, Burning Crusade, Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria, Legion and Classic+ servers separately.

Are WoW private servers safe and legal?

Private servers operate in a legal grey area: they violate Blizzard's terms of service and several large projects were shut down in 2026. Playing on one carries little practical risk for players, but never reuse your Battle.net password and prefer servers with an established team and a public Discord.

                How is the ranking calculated?

Each active server gets a score out of 100: player reviews count for half, estimated population for 35% and how long the server has been running for 15%. Reviews are weighted so that a server with only a few of them stays close to the site-wide average. Upcoming and closed servers are listed separately, and there is no paid placement.

Which private server has the most players?

Large multi-expansion networks such as Warmane, Sirus, Firestorm and WoW Circle have the highest concurrent populations. Smaller servers often score better in reviews because of closer communities and more responsive staff.

                Keep Private Server Hub online

Hosting, domain and e-mail cost about $120 a month, paid by one person. No ads, no paid placements.
