Lightborne, a custom Wrath project, looks for closed alpha testers

Lightborne, a custom Wrath of the Lich King project built on AzerothCore, is looking for a small group of closed alpha testers. The call went out on Discord in October 2026. Testing isn't quite ready yet, but the developer told Private Server Hub that it will be soon. The project takes the classic world on the 3.3.5a client and builds new systems on top of it.
A local alpha first, a free server later
The alpha will run as a local offline build for now. Later the developer plans to make Lightborne public and free, with no donations and no pay-to-win.
What the alpha build has
- The whole Wrath world, with questing, combat and dungeons
- Character progression
- AI companions, playerbots that can fight, quest, travel, ride mounts and interact with NPCs
- Early versions of the Trials system and the custom progression systems
- Guild housing, still in development
What is planned
The call lists Trials, custom class paths, Runebound, Oathwarden, Gladiator progression, guild housing, Party Concords, Runic Shards and Runescrolling, mount companions, custom factions and world events, prestige with a persistent character history, and the project's own login, realm and character screens. It names these systems without explaining them, so what Runebound, Oathwarden or Party Concords will do is still open.
What testers do
Nobody needs coding experience. Testers get a step-by-step installation guide, then download and extract the client, launch it and log in, with no command prompt involved. The developer wants people who play normally, explore, quest, run dungeons, test the AI companions, try unusual things and report bugs with screenshots, and who say what feels fun, broken, unbalanced, confusing or worth expanding. This is a real alpha, the call warns, with bugs, unfinished systems, changes and occasional resets.
Lightborne has no website or public Discord yet, and rates and a release date haven't been announced.
