On 14 May 2026 Stormforge switched off its realms, honouring the agreement it reached with Blizzard's legal team after receiving a cease-and-desist in April. The shutdown covered the whole network: Netherwing (The Burning Crusade), Frostmourne (the WotLK+ PvE realm launched jointly with Whitemane on 3 October 2025), Sheilun and the other Mists of Pandaria realms. The website and Discord closed with the servers.
Stormforge was the product of a partnership between the Atlantiss and Tauri development teams, two of the most respected scripting groups in the scene, and had run for more than four years. Its Mists of Pandaria realms were regarded as the most accurate MoP emulation available, and Netherwing was one of the most populated TBC servers.
The closure came one day before Turtle WoW's servers went dark, marking the end of a two-week period that reshaped the private-server landscape.
