WoW Hardcore Vanilla moves to a launcher for the 1.14.2 client

WoW Hardcore Vanilla released its first launcher on 2 September 2026, and with it a move to the modern 1.14.2 client, while the game itself stays Vanilla 1.12.1. The launcher downloads and prepares the client for you. The team called it a first version that it will keep improving, and the 1.12.1 client is still offered as a direct download.
The next night, fixes deployed at 1:30 in the morning left the server unable to start properly, and players had trouble getting in until the team fixed it later on 3 September.
On 11 September, after connection problems with the old realm list server, the realmlist changed to hc.wowhardcorevanilla.com.
September patches
- Patch 1.3 doubled the respawn time of creatures that came back in under 60 seconds
- Patch 1.5 corrected 414 translated item and object names in the server's database. Players need to clear the WDB cache
- Vote rewards went up about threefold on 4 September, to 3 gold at level 60
- Patch 1.9 on 21 September added an NPC at the entrance of Blackrock Depths who sells the Shadowforge Key. As of 4 October it is the newest post on the server's news page
