About Conquest of AzerothCore

Conquest of AzerothCore, or CoA, rebuilds Conquest of Azeroth, the custom-class mode players knew from Ascension, on the open-source AzerothCore emulator and the 3.3.5a client. The project ran for a long time as a public bug-test realm, and on 22 October 2026 the team opened Rexxar, its first permanent live realm. Characters on Rexxar stay, and there are no test wipes. The other realms, among them Wildcard with the classless Hero and Warcraft Reborn with nine reworked classic classes, are still public test realms where characters can be wiped at any time. One account works on all of them. Rexxar has all 21 custom classes, such as the Barbarian, Witch Doctor, Knight of Xoroth, Chronomancer, Starcaller, Sun Cleric and Runemaster, and the level cap is 60. Experience is x1.5. Recruit-a-Friend gives linked friends triple experience when they group up, as long as they are below level 60 and within 4 levels and 100 yards of each other. They can also summon each other, and a veteran can grant levels to a recruit. Content opens in stages, and Heroic dungeons are the highest tier right now. Pale Reach is already open, while Manastorm, an endless dungeon mode that goes floor by floor, runs on the test realm and stays closed on Rexxar until the team has tuned it. Playerbots are turned off on Rexxar, so everyone you meet is a real player. The team says there will never be a cash shop. Cosmetics, mounts and other vanity items cost Bazaar Tokens that you earn in game, and a bug report that gets fixed earns Groot Coins, which you can trade for Bazaar Tokens. All of the code is public on GitHub, and the website posts a changelog of the fixes every day. To play, you make an account on the website, install the Windows launcher, which adds the CoA files to a Wrath of the Lich King 3.3.5a client, and pick Rexxar in the realm list. The community speaks English, and on 24 October 2026 the Discord had about 5,500 members.
