Everwood announces a hard RP Classic server with turn-based combat and permanent death

Everwood, a hard roleplay server with a classic WoW setting, was announced on Reddit on 13 September 2026. It drops the usual MMO loop: no leveling through XP, no questing, no raids and no dungeons. Characters are ordinary people in a dark, hostile world set before Classic, "trying to find wealth, fame and even peace - or die trying".

How characters grow

A character's strength comes from four tiers that show its place in the world: a Tier 1 Warlock is a mere acolyte and a Tier 4 Warlock a master, a Tier 1 Paladin is a squire and a Tier 4 Paladin a Lord-Paladin. Moving up depends on how well you play your role and the personality you declared for your character, your record on the server and the feedback you get from the DMs. The GM and DM team decides together, with help from AI.

What the team describes

• Its own hex-based, turn-based combat system, with AI for enemies, guards and townsfolk
• Permanent death: once the GM team confirms it, a dead character can't be revived, unless raised as undead
• Defeated players can be robbed of their inventory and equipment, and mounts can be killed or stolen
• Slider-based character customisation
• An economy with several currencies, and mines, inns, farms and stables that players can own
• Fiefs, with vassals and lords among both NPCs and players
• Housing with furniture you place in real time, and books that players write in game
• Classic graphics, with no HD models
• No pay-to-win, and moderation precedents that will be public on the website
• An English- and Russian-speaking community, with AI translation in real time

The team planned the first closed alpha for September 2026, focused on character customisation and turn-based combat, and said it would announce it on the Everwood Discord. Nothing public has confirmed it since. Before the announcement, the team had shown a furniture system, a posing system and extended customisation with half-elves and half-orcs in videos on its YouTube channel.
