Level 1 characters clear 40-player Gnomeregan on LunaticPTR

LunaticPTR, the server where every character stays at level 1, announced on 27 August 2026 that a group of its players had cleared Gnomeregan for 40 players from start to finish, Mekgineer Thermaplugg included.

"A long time ago on Turtle WoW it was just an idea to take a bunch of Level 1s into Gnomeregan. We made it happen," the team wrote. In the comments it explained that the dungeon is not scaled down: it is "literally base Level 30 Vanilla. Missing attacks and all." The team called Grubbis and Thermaplugg "absolutely insane mechanically". Against Grubbis, a Troll Warrior tanked the ambushers with Troll Regeneration while spamming Battle Shout.

A month of firsts

• In the server's first two weeks, players led by Ainokainen killed Anachronos in the Caverns of Time. The winning attempt took about 27 hours, with players joining and leaving along the way
• Ragefire Chasm, Frostmane Hollow, the Deadmines, Wailing Caverns and Shadowfang Keep have all been cleared as 10-player raids
• Before the full clear, the guild Level One Lunatic took server firsts on Viscous Fallout in Gnomeregan and on a full clear of Wailing Caverns

There are no donations on LunaticPTR. The team says it pays about 159 dollars a year for a server that can hold more than 500 players.
