Microbot WoW lets players shape the personality of their AI companions

Microbot WoW finished a run of updates to its companions’ personalities on 25 August 2026. On this Vanilla 1.12.1 server you hire AI companions at inns to fill your group, and their chat runs through ChatGPT.
What you can set
- A mode: immersive, advisor, storyteller or colloquial
- A personality style "from cheerful to gruff to deadpan"
- A persona you write yourself, saved as a preset to use again. Presets can be imported and exported
Companions answer in character and know where you are and what you are fighting. They speak up on their own at a level-up, a rare spotted, a good drop, a wipe or the first time you walk into a city. They welcome you back when you return, and they talk to each other when the road is quiet. The command .settings chatgpt off ends their chat, though short battle calls remain.
How it was built
- 14 August: personality settings added to the Companions Control Panel, version 4.10, marked as work in progress
- 20 to 25 August: versions 4.11 to 4.13 improved them
- 25 August: version 4.14 added import and export of presets
Companion chat existed before August. These updates made it configurable.
About the server
Microbot has been around since 2021 and ran under the name NycterMoon until late 2024. Its site promises that characters are permanent: "There has never been a wipe and there never will be."
