Sanctuary opens a roleplay realm built around proximity voice chat

Sanctuary, a roleplaying realm for the 3.3.5a client, opened its live realm on 8 September 2026. Three days earlier its developer had posted on Reddit looking for a few players to stress test it, describing a WoW server "meant for RP like FiveM or Skyrim that has VOIP".

Voice comes from the world

There are no voice channels to join. You hear the players standing near you, a voice comes from the side its speaker is standing on, and you choose how far your own carries: 5, 10, 25, 50 or 100 yards. Sanctuary's launcher connects you to a separate voice service, and the rest of the roleplay tools are addons that the launcher installs and keeps up to date.

Built for roleplay

  • Everyone reads as their race until they introduce themselves, and a stranger keeps a name of their own, such as the Hooded Orc
  • Violence needs consent: players flag themselves as outlaws when they are open to it
  • Lawmen are appointed by name and carry a Writ of Accusation and iron shackles, so an arrest is a scene played with you, not a respawn timer
  • Town notice boards, strongboxes that open with a key or a picked lock, and downed characters that others can carry to a healer or out of sight
  • Languages you learn over time, player factions with ranks, and no corpse runs: it is the spirit healer, or waiting for someone to raise you

How to join

There is no registration form: your Discord account is your game account. You need your own 3.3.5a client (build 12340), and the launcher goes inside your game folder. Sanctuary is run by volunteers, and donations through Ko-fi only pay for server costs and give nothing in game.
