Project Balance

Project Balance is a hardcore realm on the Wrath of the Lich King 3.3.5a client, run by two developers. Death is permanent: a disconnect, fall damage or any other death ends the character, and a ticket will not bring it back. The world is harder than usual. Mobs use abilities such as Charge, Fear and Thunderclap, any NPC above level 30 can be dangerous if you don't interrupt it, and crafted items were buffed so that they are worth making. Most classes have balance changes, such as a petless Hunter build and faster attacks in Bear Form. The level cap rises in phases along the ChromieCraft timeline: the hardcore realm started at level 20 on 24 July 2026 and reached level 60 on 2 October. Kill and quest experience is x1.5, and each player can set a personal rate from x0.5 to x2 with the .xp set command. Reputation is x1.5, professions x2 and exploration x3. Respecs and dual spec are free, a third profession (gathering only) can be learned at level 10, quest items drop for the whole party, and five players are enough to start a guild. Transmogrification and a world chat are available. The team accepts no donations and has no shop. Two accounts are allowed, but multiboxing is not. Before it became hardcore-only, the server ran as Project (Un)Balance from February 2026. According to the developer, the WoW Forever beta drew most of its players away, and the population is very low.
