Wallcraft mercenaries can now loot, trade and use the mail

Wallcraft, the custom Vanilla server on the 1.12.1 client, keeps building out its mercenaries, the computer-controlled companions you lead into fights. On 18 May 2026 the developer posted a short video of mercenaries handling trades and mail, a clip that was too big for Discord.

Earlier this spring

• 13 March 2026: mercenary looting is finished. Mercenaries now loot items for themselves and work out on their own which corpses they are allowed to loot
• 21 March 2026: a development stream of a Blackrock Depths run with mercenaries

Client patch

The client patch on the Wallcraft website, patch-8.mpq (about 118 MB), was last updated on 15 May 2026. There are no public patch notes, so it is not clear what it changes beyond what the videos show.

Wallcraft has no news page on its website. Updates come through the developer's YouTube channel and the Discord, which had about 2,400 members in October 2026.
