Whitemane plans two original raids for Frostmourne: Ruins of Karazhan and Fall of the Sunwell

Whitemane has laid out its long-term plan for Frostmourne, the WotLK+ realm that relaunched as Wrath of the Lich King: Rebuffed on 19 September 2026. Besides the original Wrath raids, the roadmap adds two raids that never existed in the original game. No dates have been given yet.

Ruins of Karazhan (patch 3.1.5)

Patch 3.1.5, Scourging of Karazhan, adds a Tier 8.5 raid. After the destruction of Dalaran, Archmage Antonidas has been raised from death and bound to the Lich King's will, and he is sent to claim the secrets buried deep in Karazhan.

Fall of the Sunwell (patch 3.2.5)

Patch 3.2.5, Echoes of the Sunwell, returns to the Caverns of Time. Players follow Arthas's march on Quel'Thalas, including the resurrection of Kel'Thuzad, the death of Anasterian Sunstrider and the destruction of the Sunwell, while the Infinite Dragonflight tries to change the timeline.

Both raids are "bridge" patches between the main content releases. Whitemane says they also close a loot gap left by its raid system, in which loot depends on difficulty rather than raid size, so 10- and 25-player groups on the same difficulty earn the same items.

Also on the roadmap

  • Ascended dungeons, a new dungeon difficulty, arrive with patch 3.1 and Ulduar
  • Every class will eventually get its own legendary, each with a unique effect
  • More collections, secrets and challenges between the raid tiers

Two weeks after launch

  • Frostmourne has 121,160 characters, 54% of them Horde. Paladin is the most played class and Blood Elf the most popular race
  • Unrated battleground groups are now capped at two players, after what Whitemane called an excessive amount of feedback about premades
  • Onyxia's Lair has a separate level 60 mode with the classic encounter, stats and loot
  • The free Bonus Weekends announced before launch were switched off on 12 September
