Lighthaven keeps dungeons and raids at their original levels for new characters

Lighthaven changed how its dungeons and raids scale in the patch for the week of 14 to 20 September 2026. Until then, creature levels were scaled to every character in both directions: a raid far above your level was brought down to meet you, and old content was raised up. New characters now start with creature levels left alone, so content stays out of reach until you have the levels for it, and is easy once you are well past it.
The operator announced the change on the realm's forum on 18 September, replying to a player who found five-player dungeons and Naxxramas too easy. Level scaling, the reply said, "is what made Naxxramas feel like a formality, and it is what quietly took the meaning out of being ready for something."
Scaling to group size stays. Instances still adjust to the number of bodies inside, and bots count, so one player with a handful of companions can still enter content built for twenty-five. Nothing is locked either: the Adventure Assistant (.aa) still offers all three settings, standard, original levels and none at all. A new choice applies to the next instance you open, never to the one you are standing in.
Also in the patch
- The auction house buys from players again. Its buyer looked at one listing per cycle, always the oldest, so one overpriced item blocked everything behind it. It now picks listings at random
- Bots left in a dungeon or raid that nobody is playing any more are released after five minutes, so they no longer take the places a new group needs
- Summon party and Resurrect party in the Adventure Assistant work, though neither can be reached after a full wipe
- Bots speak only in /say, /yell, General and your party or raid, and stay out of Trade, LookingForGroup, guild chat and World
- Children are back in the crowds of the inns and capitals
