Lighthaven opens a forum instead of a Discord

Lighthaven opened a forum on its website on 13 September 2026. Players ask the operator for a Discord more than for anything else, and the Reddit post that announced the forum explained why the realm still won't have one: "a Discord is a promise of presence. People join it expecting someone to be there - to answer at 2 a.m., to moderate, to keep it alive. I am one person with a job and a life, and a channel where questions sit unanswered for two days is worse than no channel at all."

"A forum makes a different promise, and it is one I can keep," the post goes on. Threads stay readable months later, and search engines index them.

How the forum works

  • Anyone can read it. To post, you log in and write as one of your characters, shown with its race portrait, level, class and guild
  • Boards for general discussion, gameplay, transmogrification, PvP, lore, support, guides, classes and recruitment, plus one board for each language the site speaks
  • The same automatic moderation as in-game chat: a mute in game is a mute on the forum, and the other way round
  • No likes, view counts, private messages or e-mail notifications, and it stays readable while the realm is down for maintenance

Six weeks of updates

The post also listed what had changed since early August:

  • Inside a dungeon, .dc on puts your tank bot in charge. It leads the party from boss to boss and pulls the trash on the way
  • .mirror 4 summons four copies of your character, gear included, that fight the way you fight
  • Karl Fabergem, a dwarf jeweler, rewrites the bonuses on the gear you are wearing
  • Every inn keeps a crowd of ordinary townsfolk
  • .rate honor multiplies the honor you earn, and .rate honor 0 switches it off
  • PvP rank titles are live and count the kills you made before they were switched on: 50 honorable kills for the first rank, 25,000 for the fourteenth

The realm went down eight times between 6 and 9 September. Seven of the crashes came from the rogue ability Killing Spree and one from a flight check, and both are fixed.
