Project Alterac launches Phase 1 with a cross-platform launcher

Project Alterac launches Phase 1 with a cross-platform launcher

Project Alterac released Phase 1 on 5 July 2026, the same day it shipped its cross-platform launcher. The launcher downloads and patches the 3.3.5a client on Windows, Linux and macOS and drops players at the login screen, removing the usual manual client setup.

The phased model

Alterac is a WotLK+ realm with bracketed progression: each phase lasts three weeks and raises the level cap by ten, from 20 up to 60, with every later raid tier getting its own phase. Each bracket features an original, fully scripted 10-man raid on a 3-day lockout, plus heroic versions of selected dungeons with new mechanics.

Launch features

  • New questlines and reputations for both factions
  • Every activity cross-faction, including battlegrounds
  • Opt-in FFA War Mode with bonus XP and improved loot
  • Death Knights unlocked once a character reaches level 20
  • x2 profession skill-ups and a server-side heuristic anti-cheat

Progress since launch

Phase 2, "Stromgarde Returns", followed on 24 July, and the level 50 phase opened on 5 September 2026 with Alterac Valley. The roadmap continues with level 60 on 26 September, then 20-man retuned versions of Molten Core and Onyxia (17 October), Blackwing Lair and Zul'Gurub (7 November) and the Ahn'Qiraj raids (28 November). The project's Discord has grown to about 2,500 members.
