About Project Legacy

Project Legacy is an independently developed Vanilla+ server built on the original 1.12 client and VMaNGOS. Its Open Beta opened on 17 July 2026 and characters are intended to carry over into full release. Rather than replacing Vanilla, the project adds content on top of it: more than 150 new quests in under-used zones, a Guardian of Hyjal world boss, an Onyxia hard mode, cross-faction grouping and guilds, dual specialization at level 40, and class updates for historically weak specs such as Retribution, Balance, Shadow and Survival. Prestige Mode lets level-60 characters reset to level 1 for permanent cosmetic rewards, and Lorewalker Mode offers a slower, world-focused levelling path. Patch 1.12.4 (26 August 2026) added guild banks.
